Petrified Wood is a fossil, formed over millions of years when the organic material of a tree is gradually replaced by minerals such as quartz.
The resulting stone-like structure retains the intricate structure, grain and patterns of the original wood.
This polished slice reveals a cross-section of an ancient tree trunk, dating back millions of years, making it an interesting addition to a fossil collection, or a unique, timeless, decorative display piece.
